This item is an 12 oz bottle of Dot-5 Silicone brake fluid.  Factory fresh, made in the USA. 

Many folks believe that Dot 5 is a much better option in the vintage jeeps than the old, original, Dot 3.  Dot 5 repels water rather than absorb it like the Dot 3 does.  This seems to greatly reduce moisture related problems such as failed master cylinder and wheel cylinders as well as rusted brake lines.  Dot 5 has a high boiling point of 500 degrees and is not as damaging to paint as Dot 3 is. 

It is important to know that Dot 5 and Dot 3 are not compatible and should not be mixed.  If you are going to change from Dot 3 to Dot 5, you need to remove all of the Dot 3 fluid and internally clean your brake lines.  You also need to change the master cylinder and wheel cylinders and rubber brake lines at this time.  Therefore, changing over from Dot 3 to Dot 5 should be done when a full brake system update is being done.  If you are using Dot 3, this will likely be sooner than later!

NOTE:  Silicone Dot 5 brake fluid is not the same as Dot 5.1 brake fluid and the two should not be mixed.  Do not mix Dot 5 with Dot 3 or Dot 4.  See instructions on the label.
