Oil filter element correct for Willys MB, M38, M38A1, Ford GPW and all vehicles using the military standard oil filter canister.  Not correct for Willys CJ2A.  High Quality Filter Element.  Very nice metal housing, not the paper stuff!  This is correct for military standard oil filter canisters.  You will know if you have the military standard canister because the lid will be marked “MILITARY STANDARD FILTER” just like the lid pictured (lid not included).  Filter element measures approx 4 3/4 inch tall and 4 1/4 inch across.  

This filter comes with a high quality rubber lid gasket that ACTUALLY fits the military standard canister lid (see picture).  Why do some sell a filter for the military standard canister with a gasket that does not fit the lid?  Good question.  You will get a good quality and correct fitting gasket with this filter.  If you have a jeep with the military standard oil filter canister, this is the best available.  Keep an extra on the shelf too!

This filter is too big to fit into the Willys civilian oil filter canister commonly found on Willys CJ2A, CJ3A, CJ3B, CJ5, civilian truck, wagon, etc.  We do have the smaller civilian filter elements in our ebay store if that is what you need.

These filters are much better made than the cheaper paper filters found from other sources for $20.00 or more.  These filters are metal wrapped, not just bare paper.  The rubber seals at the top and bottom of the filter are top quality.  This filter element comes with a rubber seal for the canister lid. 

You should do a bit of measuring before purchasing this element.  It is common for the filter canister on some military jeeps to be incorrect due to swapping over the years.  This filter element measures 4 3/4 inches tall and 4 1/4 inches wide.  If your jeep has an oil filter canister from a civilian jeep, it will be smaller and this filter element will be too big.  The military filter canister measures 5 inches wide at the top (with the lid off).  I have the smaller civilian size filter element in my ebay store if that is what you need.  Measure before you buy or contact me!
