1951 Willys M38 1/4 Ton Jeep
Asking $4500
Fresh barn find. This jeep has been sitting for many years. This is a great restoration jeep. Many of the hard to find bolt on parts are still present such as the bumperetts, rear lifting shackles, shovel bracket, top bow brackets (the forward top bow brackets look like they are missing, but someone actually turned them upside down and bolted them in place for storage rather than pitching them), head light protectors, fuel filter, M38 type oil bath air cleaner, M38 door hinge brackets, M38 style wheels, etc….
This jeep has an interesting winch on it. The winch is powered from a drive shaft that attaches to the front engine pulley like the older capstan winches. The last coat of paint is peeling off showing original OD green. The last coat of paint looks like Navy Gray to me suggesting this may have been used by the Navy at some point? It may be white, but it looks grey to me.
The engine is an original MC marked M38 engine. I suspect this is the original engine. Transmission and transfer case shift OK. Steering OK, has two newer front tires on it. Tires hold air just fine. Gas tank has rusted out.
Has original data plates. I have the serial number plate from behind the passenger seat. This serial number plate matches the clean title that comes with the jeep.
If you are looking for an M38 to restore, don’t pass this one up. I can arrange to deliver this to the 2015 MVPA convention in Topeka, KS. Call for details.
