Yes, the voltage designation is important.  You must use a six volt coil for a six volt electrical system.  I have seen some sellers selling coils for Willys vehicles and not even indicating if the coil is for six or 12 volt systems.  Most of the coils on the market are of very questionable quality.  You know Blue Streak as the best brand on the market.    

Do you know that one of the signs of a weak, failing, or junk ignition coil is that the vehicle will run correctly initially, then after a few minutes as the coil heats up, the engine will loose significant power and run very poorly.  Many times, intermittent engine running problems are the result of a low quality coil.
